Group 9

Hello, we are Group 9. We are mechanical engineering students completing our final year at the Grove School of Engineering.

Our group consists of 5 members: Kujtim, Ivan, Antony, Ethan, and Khai

Down below are the profiles of each member of our group. If you would like to learn more about each member keep scrolling down.

Kujtim Bardhyll

Since my early childhood, I've dreamt of becoming a mechanical engineer. When I was young I believed it meant working on cars, not all this math. Growing up in New York City and being the child of hardworking immigrant parents, my heart has always been drawn to making a positive impact in people's lives. I feel incredibly blessed to have a life filled with opportunities, and I firmly believe that everyone should have a chance at happiness and success. This deep-rooted sense of giving back to society led me to pursue a career in engineering.

Finding solutions to real-world problems and contributing to a better future has ignited an undeniable passion within me. It's more than just a job; it's a calling that brings me immense joy and fulfillment.

Ivan Bondarenko

I am an immigrant from Ukraine, the homeland of Sergiy Korolev and Soviet Soyuz program. I hold an associate degree in Software Engineering, work as an artist professionally, study Mechanical Engineering, and overall love learning and creating things. Engineering is not a profession, it's a lifestyle, let's live it!

Antony Korngold

Born and raised in the city that never sleeps, opportunity lurks in every corner. Coming from a family of engineers, I believed it would be fitting to add another one to the family. After joining the robotics team in highschool and competing in a FIRST Robotics competition, I knew my passion would be mechanical engineering. I am striving to achieve a bachelor’s in Mechanical and Engineering as well as successfully passing my EIT exam.

Ethan Li

I was born and raised right here in New York City. Having completed my associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering, I remained loyal and continued to work towards the completion of my bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering. In my downtime I like to play handball and train Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu.

Khaing Hsu Wai

Born in Burma, Khai comes to US to study after turning 18. She was graduated with Associate in Civil Engineering in Burma. After graduating from LaGuardia Community College with Associate in Earth System Science & Environmental Engineering, Khai has been selected as an undergraduate researcher in NSF funded program entitled "Research Experiences for Undergraduates in Satellites and Ground-Based Remote Sensing" at NOAA CREST: 2018-2019 Scholar position where she studied about Glaciers melt over Himalaya mountains using NASA satellites and advanced scatterometer. After that, Khai went on to CCNY to study Mechanical Engineering. As a lover of Aerospace and having a passion in Rocketry, Khai has built and launched her 1st rocket, Archer, in 2019 and became Level 1 certified in High Powered Rocketry. After that, she joined CCNY Harlem Launch Alliance as Airframe Engineer in Spring 2020 and as Lead Airframe Engineer in Fall 2020. In 2021, Khai launched her 2nd rocket, Archer II, and gained her Level 2 certification from Tripoli Rocketry Association. Khai believes that the definition of a successful flight is not only building and flying the rocket, but also a successful recovery. The same mindset has applied to Senior Design project Rocket. Khai and her senior design team members were able to design, fly, and recover the rocket, “Scorpion G9” for their capstone two semester longed design project class. Aside from Rocketry, Khai has also developed an interest in Nuclear Physics after getting a scholarship from US Nuclear Regulatory Commission and studying Nuclear Reactor Design, Safety and Engineering. In Summer 2022, Khai has interned at Constellation as a design engineering intern at Nine Mile Point and James A. Fitzpatrick Nuclear Power Plant. She was offered to extend the internship for Fall 2022 semester as well as a full time Nuclear Design Engineer position upon graduation this December.
